LAKE ELSINORE -- Although brief, a June 25th visit to Lake Elsinore will play a key role in the final crowning of a 2010 California state bass fishing champion. That Friday morning, 40 of Southern California's top bass anglers will compete in the California Bass Fishing Championship (CBC tour). Each of the top 10 finishers from Region 1 (Inland Empire/San Diego) will earn $1000 in this Regional final and qualify for the state title at Clear Lake later in the year. The contestants angling resumes include competitive individual and team expertise as well as professional guiding experience. To qualify for the CBC Regional, each angler fished solo and needed to finish in the top 10 at one of four venues: Diamond Valley, Perris, Lower Otay or Lake Hodges earlier this year. The test will be especially challenging since California angling regulations stipulate only six hours of angling time may elapse before the contestants mush weigh in their live catch. The competitors will launch and weigh-in at the City Seaport Boat Launch & Landing with the tournament hours expected to run from 6 a.m. to noon.
